Kivara is a tall carved wooden jharokha mirror finished in distressed turquoise. Its name is drawn from kivaad, the Hindi word for a door panel, because the piece is built like an old haveli door, in four parts from top to bottom: a pierced jali panel, an arched mirror, a carved sunburst rosette and a row of turned spindles. The mirror sits under a scalloped Mughal-style arch with small carved brackets at each side. The bright blue-green paint is worn back along the edges so the wood underneath shows through, giving it an aged, lived-in look. At 20 inches wide and 71 inches tall, this long wall mirror makes a strong statement in an entryway, a hallway or above a console table.
Key Features:-
- Scalloped Jharokha Arch Over the Mirror: The mirror is framed by a cusped arch, the shape seen on the windows of Rajasthani palaces and havelis. Two small carved brackets support the arch at the sides. The arch gives the mirror a soft, curved top while the panel itself stays straight and slim.
- Pierced Jali Panel at the Top: Above the arch is a jali panel cut in a repeating four-petal lattice. Light and shadow pass through the openings, so the top of the mirror changes with the light in the room.
- Carved Sunburst Rosette: Below the mirror, a raised panel carries a carved rosette with petals radiating from a centre flower. The worn paint on the carving lets the wood tone come through in the grooves, which brings out the detail.
- Turned Spindle Base Panel: The bottom section has five turned wooden spindles set in an open frame, much like a balcony railing. It adds depth to the lower half and completes the door-panel look.
- Slim, Tall Shape for Narrow Walls: At just 20 inches wide, the mirror fits on narrow walls, beside a doorway or in a passage where a wide mirror would not. Its 71-inch height draws the eye upward and makes a room feel taller. The mirror glass sits in the middle section, at a comfortable height for a quick look on your way out.
